Top 5 Songs for the British Grand Prix 2016

I don’t know about you but I kind of miss listening to the Top 40 on a Sunday afternoon/evening on Radio 1 – do they still do it these days? I stopped listening a while ago now 😉

Anyway, as well as my Funniest Tweet Awards something else that was fairly popular on my Timeline during the race was the mention of pop songs. So, I thought I’d do a Top 5 Pop Songs that summed up the race as well.

A girl’s got to keep busy you know!

So pop pickers in at number 5  very narrowly beating Dead or Alive’s “You Spin Me Right Round” is the pop princess, Kylie Minogue, In honour of one of the many spins that were happening as the track dried and the drivers changed on to slicks, with “Spinning Around” –

In at number 4 is DJ Casper and his “Cha Cha Slide” for Sergio Perez and his amazing ability to control a Formula 1 car whilst doing a major league slide and keep on racing –

At number 3 is a track dedicated to the racing track – Slippery When Wet – now I was going to choose a track from Bon Jovi’s album of the same name – you gotta love those old 80s soft rock bands – but then on perusing the world-wide wonder web I found that there was actually a song called Slippery When Wet from 1975 by The Commodores –

At number 2 is a song for Manor’s Rio Haryanto who spun (yes another one) and ended up in the sand trap – when that happened, let’s just say there were an awful of tweets saying this – “His name is Rio and he dances in the sand (trap)” – so it  has to be Duran Duran with “Rio” –

And top of the pops for Silverstone 2016 is …

Well it’s not the theme tune to Only Fools and Horses in honour of Renault F1 nor is it MC Hammer and Hammertime – they were just a bit too obvious.

No, your top pop pick is Simon & Garfunkel and their song “The Sound of Silence” – which to be honest was pretty deafening in the driver’s room, wouldn’t you agree?

Now with the penalty & current Drivers’ Championship standings, I think the song of the race should be:
    One is the Loneliest Number
(I like this version by Aimee Mann)

(for the full effect, listen to it while looking at this picture from the F1 site)
