That was exhausting, just watching.
It had all the thrills and spills that we want in every race and there were a ton of funny tweets as usual.
Alongside the track action there was a social media frenzy over the little boy crying his eyes out when Kimi crashed out on the first corner, whose tears turned to joy as he got to meet his hero later on in the race.
So, here we go with the ‘Funniest Tweet Awards’:
Before we get down to the top five, there are a couple of honorary mentions:
Honorary mention one is @stevewittich for this tweet towards the latter stages of the race, when we were all wondering what strategy Ferrari and Mercedes were using:
Honorary mention two is @MisterPigz for this tweet following Vettel’s pass on Bottas:
But here are the Top 5 Funniest Tweets for the Spanish Grand Prix:
In 5th place is @SkySportsF1 for this tweet, showing a lonely Kimi waiting for a lift after that crash at turn 1:
4th place goes to @coledinho1984 for this tweet after the Carlos Sainz-Keven Magnusson little set-to on the exit of the pitlane. This tweet was specifically after the radio transmission between K-Mag and his engineer was broadcast:
3rd place is this tweet from @Grace_Wilko for this fabulously funny tweet after Massa appeared to impede Vettel’s progress towards the end of the race:
This week’s runner-up is @SimonGBrooks for this tweet, again following that Sainz-Magnusson incident. It did make me chuckle:
But this week’s winner for making me laugh, seriously out loud is @TarasDemerson for this tweet in response to Renault F1’s tweet about Nico Hulkenberg’s progress at the beginning of the race:
So, there you have it – my Top 5, from the tweets that filtered through my timeline.
The next round of the Funniest Tweet Awards will be in two weeks when the Forumla One circus moves to Monaco.
As usual, if you want to be in with a chance of winning … quite frankly absolutely nothing but kudos and bragging rights until the next race, follow me on Twitter, @Pitlane_Girl and I’ll follow right back.
But for now I leave you with the winning gif – it was far too funny not to share:
