Top 5 Funniest Tweets – Austrian Grand Prix 2017

Ok, so after the excitement of Baku, the Austrian Grand Prix was a more sedate affair.

There was a little bit of excitement, mixed with disappointment on the first lap, but then everything seemed to just move along.

Still, there were some funny tweets that made it into my Twitter feed.

An honorary mention first to @RenaultSportF1 for apologising for getting too serious on Twitter:

But without further ado, here are this week’s Funniest Tweet Award winners:

In 5th place is @MattWhiteRacing for this explanation of tyres:

4th place goes to @AaronRook91 for this tweet following Martin Brundle comments about drivers that were not where he thought they were (unless he fell through a loop in the space-time continuum momentarily)

In 3rd place is @micky_h76 for this accurate observation of track position mid-way through the race:

This week’s runner-up in 2nd place is @Sawreyware for a solution to Lewis Hamilton’s tyre blistering problems (despite his complaining he still set some blistering times on them (see what I did there? I’l get my coat!)

And, ladies and gentlemen, this week’s worthy winner of the Funniest Tweet Awards for the Austrian Grand Prix 2017 is @LastLapPodcast for this truly inspired tweet about Dutch fans leaving the race and going home early after Max Verstappen retired on the first lap.

The next round of the Funniest Tweet Championship will be next weekend’s British Grand Prix.

Until Silverstone everyone, I will just leave you with my favourite gif of the weekend…
