I think this pretty much sums up the race that was the Singapore Grand Prix:
That certainly was a marathon of a race! Forget murder on the dance floor, it was definitely carnage on the race track. Throw in a mixture of rain, safety cars and retirements and that pretty much sums the race up.
But we all know that carnage on the race track makes for hilarity in the Twitter feed and by golly you did not disappoint. I know I probably missed some amazingly funny tweets, I was scrolling so fast to find them my keyboard was smoking!
However, after two long hours and a cup of tea whilst judging I have managed to whittle the tweets down to the funniest top 10 – as you can imagine the majority of tweets did relate to ‘that crash’.
So without further ado, here are the Top 10 Funniest Tweets for the Singapore Grand Prix:
In 10th place is @PG_F1 for this tweet depicting the scenes from the Ferrari garage after the crash that started the race:
9th place goes to @F1StatMan for this tweet during the third safety car period as it took what seemed like forever for anyone to reach Marcus Ericsson’s car stranded on the bridge, let alone remove it from the track:
In 8th place is @BadgerGP for potential scenes in the Ferrari garage following the post-race steward’s enquiry into ‘that crash’:
In 7th place is @PFF1 for this tweet from the Ferrari management office showing just how difficult it might be for Sergio Marchionne to write his race statement:
In 6th place is @Dan_Rigsby for this tweet following yet another safety car appearance during the race:
In 5th place is this tweet from @timwagner66 surmising that it could well be aspirin all round in the team garages after the race:
4th place goes to @TarasDemerson for this tweet after ‘that crash’ and with Lewis Hamilton in the lead, the rain stopped. It’s like a miracle:
In 3rd place is @dibhayles (a new entrant into the competition, and he’s been practising all weekend) with this tweet following the news that a pink monster appeared to be stalking Carlos Sainz Jr:
2nd place goes to @F1archives – Ferrari are so competitive, even when it comes down to team-mates crashing:
This week’s worthy winner, in 1st place is @wtf1official for succinctly summing up the 1st lap in one picture:
There were so many to choose from, I wish I could have chosen them all. However, these were the 10 that made me laugh.
If you would like to take part in the Funniest Tweet Championship, all you need do is follow me on Twitter (@Pitlane_Girl) and I’ll follow back and tweet funny tweets during the race, it’s that simple.
You win nothing but kudos and bragging rights until the next race, however, I do run a championship during the season, so who knows, you could be the Funniest Tweet Award’s champion for the year.
Next up is Malaysia – that’s going to be an early morning isn’t it? Can I order a cup of tea now?
