F1 Bake Off – Round 17 – Japan

You can’t beat cheesecake, so when I found a recipe for Japanese cheesecake I simply had to give it a go.

This cheesecake recipe is definitely worth having a go at making. Continue reading

F1 Bake Off – Round 16 – Russia

I found the most wonderful recipe for this week’s Russian Grand Prix, ‘Limonnik’, a lemon pie that isn’t too sweet or too sour.

Like Goldilocks said: “It’s just right!” Continue reading

F1 Bake Off – Round 15 – Singapore

Pandan extract.

That sounded rather mysterious and exotic when I found the recipe.

It’s apparently the Asian vanilla, but bears no resemblance in taste or smell to what we know as vanilla. It’s quite neutral in taste and is mainly used for colour and aroma as it has an aromatic, sweet grassy smell.

For this week’s Singapore Grand Prix, I attempted (note the word attempted) to make a Pandan Chiffon Cake. Continue reading

F1 Bake Off – Round 14 – Italy

A beautifully simple and delicious recipe for Italy, courtesy of Gino D’Acampo.

An orange and raspberry oven baked cheesecake … and I can confirm it is very, very tasty.

The perfect munch for this weekend’s race at Monza. Continue reading

F1 Bake Off – Round 13 – Belgium

Bodding!

The ‘Bodding’, to be precise, is this week’s F1 Bake Off for the Belgian Grand Prix.

But what is ‘Bodding’??

‘Brood’ is the Flemish word for bread, and they’ve simply smushed bread and pudding together to make ‘Bodding’. Or to put it another way, Bodding is simply bread pudding!

It’s a very easy recipe to make – messy, but simple. Continue reading

F1 Bake Off – Round 12 – Hungary

As I was running behind schedule a little bit, this week I thought I’d play it safe and keep it simple.

I found a super recipe for Hungarian Butter Biscuits and oh my goodness they are rather delicious.

So, here’s the recipe … Continue reading

F1 Bake Off – Round 11 – Germany

Another Formula 1 race, another Bake Off.

I found so many great tortes for the German Bake Off, I was spoilt for choice. My favourite, just for the name alone, was Beinenstich Kuchen or Bee Sting Cake, but I had to discount that one as it had nuts in … and small boy has a slight allergy.

So in the end I plumped for ‘Alexander Torte’, which is an East German cake that has its roots in Latvia.

I can tell you this is definitely worth baking. Continue reading
